Moving at Different Speeds

You’re both in the room, boxes stacked along one wall, tools still out from the work already done.

You lift the last shelf together and hold it in place while it’s secured. It takes a moment to line it up. When it’s finished, the shelf sits level against the wall.

You step back and look at it. The space is more open than it was before.

You move the remaining tools aside. Your partner gathers the empty packaging and sets it down near the boxes. The original task is complete.

The boxes are still stacked, unopened.

Your partner looks at them, then back at the shelf.

“We should probably keep going and get these put away,” they say.

How do you meet this moment?
